Arlenis causing more sensation!!

There she is. At Oscar de la Renta’s recent resort 2009 collection, exit 26 stood out amidst the flock of Eastern European blank canvases gussied up as ladies who lunch. Perhaps it could be the spirit and flair of de la Renta’s Dominican roots that he shares with one of fashion’s newest and most striking face. Ladies and gentlemen, please meet Arlenis Peña. Sauntering down the runway, Peña made quite the impression in a printed caftan and chunky jewelry that looked as if it had been freshly plucked from the sand dunes of some tropic wonderland. Fashion is at it's most frivolous when it comes to the faces it labels as the ones to watch, but Peña looks to defy that and more. The 19 year-old with the copper skin, perfectly full eyebrows, and even fuller lips are literally refreshing when considering her whirlwind rise to notoriety.Not much is known about the fast rising star, except with every star there is a story. In March of this year Peña walked into Marilyn Agency where upon she was immediately hired and two weeks later booked editorials with Vogue and Italian Vogue as well as a spot in the Banana Republic holiday collection. She’s in fine company at Marilyn with other bright young things such as Irina Lazareanu, Caroline Trentini, and Iekeliene Stange.With appearances at the Dior and Oscar de la Renta resort shows under her promising belt, it will be interesting to see where she will trot her never ending legs come this September. Already a favorite at de la Renta (she was his date at the Met Ball in May), her visage that falls somewhere between a hard edge and a refined sensuality could work well for Alexander Wang, Marc Jacobs, and Proenza Schouler. Remember her name for now, as it will surely be on the lips of every designer, editor, photographer, and modelizer in the coming months.
